7/8 Grades: Week Two and Three

These last few weeks have been flying by! Hard to believe that we are already starting our third week in the school year. Before we know it, it'll be mid quarter and then the end of the quarter.

Lots have been happening this last week in the art room. During week two, we switched gears and started something new. We took two days to do a roller coaster challenge where students were able to work in groups to create a 3D roller coaster model out of 3 sheets of 11"x17" paper, scissors, a roll of tape, and rulers. There were some pretty cool designs made! This was an activity to let loose a bit, get creative, and work well with a group.

After that, we jumped in to our first big project, the Object Self Portrait. Students answered a 20 question list of what some of their favorite things may be. Then, students were tasked with taking 10 of these items and turning them into an object self portrait. We had to do four sketches before clearing them with Ms. Mesenbring and moving on to our final.

For the final, we have the option to color in colored pencils, markers, crayons. oil pastels, chalk pastels, or charcoal. Students will be working on these through week three with a due date of either Thursday 9/21 or Friday 9/22, depending on how much time students need. Next week we will jump in to our second project.

Due dates:

Object Self Portrait either 9/21 or 9/22

Best wishes,

Ms. Mesenbring
