K-2 Week One

Hello K-2 parents and guardians!

We are already two days into our first week back in school and things have been a crazy whirlwind. As a specialist team (art, technology, music, and gym) we have been having some growing pains with getting used to the new 25 minute schedule, but we are making things work!

On the first day of art, students met with me on our carpet in the front of the room where we discussed how to appropriately enter the art room, how to sit on the carpet, and how to raise our hands to have a turn to speak. We then gathered in a circle and introduced ourselves to the class with our names and one thing that we like. It was fun to make connections with students and learn if we had something in common with another classmate.

Upon seeing the K-2 students a second time during our rotation, students will get the chance to draw. Students will meet on the carpet and learn about self portraits. We will also take a look at our drawing table boxes, that have crayons, colored pencils, and markers in them. We will discuss that students can choose what materials from these bins they would like to draw with, but the materials need to be placed back in their correct homes in the bin when done.

And this concludes our first five day rotation through specials in the art room. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email.

Have a great rest of your week!
